Alexandrian/Gardnerian: To reveal this would be to break my oath of secrecy. I can say, though, that it *really* is an ancient rite, dating far back in time, back even before 1951, and I have learned it from an unbroken lineage. As Gerald said, it takes a…
She is that girl who you roll your eyes at in the Wiccan forums and chat rooms. She is the girl you see in the new age section of the book stores. She took movies like The Craft way too seriously. Sometimes Teen Witch Wendys evolve and understand the pagan faiths are more than a fashion…
David Coppedge’s lawsuit for wrongful termination should be underway in Los Angeles today.
Coppedge was terminated by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., last year. Coppedge, a computer specialist, is an avowed evangelical Christian who believes his views on intelligent design…
Not it’s not Pagan, but it’s relevant. You should read this. It applies for us as well.
That's no way to talk to anyone. I think that guy has social issues. You are right not to open up for just anyone. The whole conversation is odd. I think you just found a strange guy. Best wishes on your path.
People are ridiculous, don't let them get to you, honest. If he keeps it up, record the conversations (via picture or keep them in your messages) and file a harassment suit. Show him that you don't need magic to make him go away. ;) Hope all goes well. BB. )O(
Thanks so much! And that sounds like a good idea, I’ll keep it in mind.
When they just don't leave you alone. or drop all pretenses of being polite, why should you be nice to them? Yes, we under the pagan umbrella get a bad rep., but one needs to look after oneself first, everything/one later. Also - community strain in the school, or as a pagan?
Thank you so much :) and community strain in the pagan community. I don’t think it’s a surprise to know that there are terrible stereotypes on us, and what any one of us does, it often reflects on us all, and I try to keep that in mind, but yes, sometimes, I just have to do what I have to.
This guy has tried to converse with me on facebook. It all started when he noticed my religious affiliation on my info, then started asking me questions. It was all okay, until he said that that wasn’t what he heard from his ex girlfriend. Then I got snarky. Today, he sent a message.
"Hey Meghan how has your religion been treating you?"
To be honest, even though this kid and I go to the same school, I have never seen him before. (this is highly possible when your high school population is over 6,000 people) So it does kind of bug me that he’s asking all sorts of personal questions. I simply answered “As well as any other religion would”, because I wasn’t sure what else to say. He then goes on to say nevermind, he thought I was more polite, and I told him I wasn’t in the mood to communicate. With anyone. He then says fuck you.
I really don’t know what to say. I’m not in the mood to talk with a complete stranger about ‘how my religion is treating me’. Because, would he be asking me these questions if I was Christian?
I’m probably putting a stain on our community, but sometimes, I just can’t deal with people. I’ve been harassed enough, and I can only be polite for so long.
I've been studying Wicca and Paganism for a couple months. I read a post of yours and it said something about initiation and a year and one day? I'm curious as to what that entails and or means. You can private message back or post this, which ever is better for you.
Traditional Wicca asks that its members study the religion, usually under the guidance of an elder (High Priest/Priestess, someone older than you, someone that has been in the religion longer than you) for a year and a day - you’ll find that many things in Wicca will take a year and a day. There are also different degrees of initiation in Wicca, First, Second, and Third degree.
Do remember that most of this information is specific to Wicca, and does not apply to all of Paganism. If you for some reason do apply it to all, I am not responsible for the words that will follow.
These are the times I really wish there was an Elder I could reach out to.
I an pretty bummed out actually that the Full Moon falls on a school night yet again. It makes it hard on me to actually do a ritual (I typically do my rituals on the weekends, if I have time)
As well, have any of you actually tried to search for sewing magick? It’s damn hard to find anything legit. Like, I’m not even pulling up ye olde sewing spells. Lesigh.
To end, I am Wiccan, so I believe in the importance of initiation into the religion, and the whole year-and-a-day study, and the degrees. There was a circle that I adored going to (Crossroads Tabernacle Church, part of the ATC) but the drive there and back was just too long. And honestly, they were great. I loved being able to teach the little kids about the religion, and we were starting to form a plan for my study, but the distance was just too much, and I sadly had to break it off.
On a brighter note, there is a circle in the city I will be attending college in, called the House of Needles. It is a circle dedicated to those in the Craft that, well, craft! (specifically, crafts that deal with needle-working) They have teaching available, so I just sent them an email asking for more information and my eagerness to join.
As well, I will be attending the Michigan Pagan Festival. Will I be seeing any of you there?
